Itinerary and Travel
Overview
Lake Como, Italy
Thursday, July 23 – Sunday, July 26, 2026
We’re so excited to celebrate with you in Lake Como. Our hope is that this weekend feels less like a packed itinerary and more like a relaxed vacation with a few beautiful moments where we’re all together.
All guests will be staying in Pognana Lario, a quiet village on the eastern side of Lake Como, split between Villa Lario (our wedding venue) and the neighboring hotel La Luna Como.
We’ll be covering accommodations, breakfast, and all group dinners listed below. Outside of the scheduled events, your time is completely your own! Swim, nap, explore nearby towns by ferry, or simply enjoy the lake, pool, and some new friends.
Thursday, July 23
3:00pm – Check-in begins
6:00pm – Welcome BBQ dinner at the restaurant in Villa Bianca (in Villa Lario)
*If you arrive earlier in the day, you’re welcome to drop your bags and relax around the property while rooms are prepared! Please see below for travel information to the hotel.

Getting to Pognana Lario
Our recommendation: Taxi
We recommend flying into Milan either to Malpensa (MXP) or Linate (LIN) and reserving a taxi or private car to take you directly to Villa Lario in Pognana Lario. This is the simplest and most stress-free option, especially after a long international flight.
Travel time: approximately 45 mins from MXP and 1.5 hours from LIN
Bonus: no transfers, no schedules to juggle, delivered to the front door which helps with luggage
This website has a few taxi and car services so that you can book one in advance, and the concierge at Villa Lario can always assist you as well (they can be reached at +39 031 5375064).
If that option feels a bit too pricey or if you simply prefer to take the more scenic route, here are a couple more options for you.
Alt Option 1: Train to Bus
Step 1: Train from Milan to Como Town
Take a train from Milan to Como San Giovanni. Here is a link to the schedule and to purchase tickets.
Step 2: Bus from Como Town to Pognana Lario
From the Como Town - Stazione Lago stop, take the C130 bus (direction: Bellagio) and get off at Pognana - Via Statale 21 “Da Rosa” stop, which drops you off about a minute’s walk from Villa Lario. This bus runs quite frequently, here is the current timetable.
Travel time: approximately a 40 minute train and 35 minute bus ride
Bonus: less than $20 and still quite easy to navigate with luggage
Alt Option 2: Train to Ferry
You can also take a ferry from Como Town to Pognana Lario, operated by Navigazione Laghi. This is a gorgeous way to arrive, but ferries can be extremely crowded in July so be sure to book tickets in advance and get ready for the crowds.
Step 1: Train from Milan to Como Town
Take a train from Milan to Como San Giovanni. Here is a link to the schedule and to purchase tickets.
Step 2: Ferry from Como Town to Pognana Lario
Walk to the Como Ferry terminal and take the Ferry to the Pognana Lario terminal.
*From the Pognana Lario terminal, walk along the lakeside path which will bring you to the front door of La Luna Como and the bottom of Villa Lario. To get to the front desk of Villa Lario, walk into their gate by the lake (you will see a big red cup statue) and walk towards the rock wall to get to the elevator. Take it up a level and you will find someone to lead you to the front desk. Please note that if you follow Maps instructions from the ferry terminal, it will have you walk up 20+ flights of stairs to access Villa Lario from the street - don’t make the same mistake we did lol!
Travel time: approximately 40 minute train ride, 10 minute walk and a 50 minute ferry ride
Bonus: this is likely the most scenic and although the ferries are packed, the views are amazing. Definitely challenging if you have more than one bag.
Important tip:
This ferry terminal is a great way to get around the lake to visit other famous towns and villages if you find yourself in the mood to explore over the weekend!
A Few Important Notes
There is no Uber or rideshare service in Lake Como.
Many of these transportation options haven’t released their July schedules or tickets yet so please make sure to book them a bit closer to the date.
Google Maps can be a little… creative here. Instead of entering full addresses, we recommend searching by name (for example, “Villa Lario” rather than the street address).
Once you arrive in Pognana Lario, everything for the wedding weekend is close by and the ferry system makes it easy to explore the lake if you’d like.
If you have any questions about routing, timing, or what option makes the most sense for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re more than happy to help.
